Sensory Herb Gardens for Special Needs Children — The Herb Society of America Blog

By Candace Riddle Ever since Beatrix Potter wrote The Tale of Peter Rabbit, children and gardens have had a special friendship. That friendship is even stronger between children with special needs and special gardens called “sensory gardens.”  The difference between a sensory garden and a “regular” garden is the human factor— regular display gardens are […]

Flowers Opened

We passed out our Mums back in September with their buds for the most part closed up tight with just a tag to let us know their true colors.

Well they opened as always into stunning plants for our autumn decorating needs here in town.

Gorgeous Dark Red but these are bathed in sunlight.
We also offer Asters.
Cabbage and Kale as well.

Gardening Talk — NewEnglandGardenAndThread

Five hundred and twenty miles, two nights motel stay, an afternoon snowstorm, and I got to spend Saturday with 545 other Master Gardeners and gardening enthusiasts. Yes, you read that right – it snowed all Saturday afternoon and evening in Greenville, SC. The folks I talked to that day found it quite humorous that the […]

The Pollinator Victory Garden…A Review. — An Irish Gardener

Small changes in our gardening can make an enormous difference to our world – The “Act locally, think globally” concept could never be applied so effectively! We can each, in our individual gardens, make small changes which will be beneficial to our environment, to the pollinators of our country and its ecology without, and this […]

Taking Orders For Pansy Bowls

See a garden club member for more information beginning on 2/4/2020

Once again The Epping Garden Club will be holding their Pansy Bowl Fundraiser and we will begin taking paid orders 2/4/2020 either by mail:

Epping Garden Club
9 Folsom Mill Lane
Epping NH
03042

or by grabbing an order form from the library and dropping it off with Joyce in the Town Hall with your cash or check.

Call 300-0064(Eunice) in March for the date they will arrive in the library parking lot, as it will be dependent upon our weather and when the Pansies begin to open.

Thanks for your continued support of what we do here in town.

Now Taking Pansy Bowl Orders

Just what you need as snow melts here in New England.

Our library is now back open and meetings inside will resume starting tonight around 5:30 with meeting underway no later than 6:00 pm.

Park in back and come through the middle door please.

We will discuss our Pansy Bowl Fundraiser, my hope is we can sell 300-400 bowls so if you could all post the sale on you Facebook pages and for those on other town boards please ask them to support our volunteer efforts throughout our town, many must not be aware of the hours that were spent putting in the gardens we have now and why we do not have more.

I will have a flyer and order form to print off copies tonight before the meeting.

We will also need to make a plan for all hands at the ready for a spring cleanup and decide if we should lay mulch to block weeds or wood chips. Do we have the towns DPW haul it for us and deliver again at my house and we all load up here? Suggestions?

Two members per corner should be enough for a through cleaning, then all of us at the Safety Complex will work.

We will need to find those who can accept a position in our group as well, with Teresa having re-written our bylaws it is time. I have to belong to a garden club with such rules, as I am now the NHFGC Treasurer which I will hold for one more year.

So with that in mind jot down thoughts on where you want our group to head and bring ideas to the meeting please.

Barbara will now head up another gardening endeavor with the Conservation Dept. so we will see how much time she has for fundraisers and plantings. Hoping you can let us know Barbara.

We need to have a presentation and bring in residents for garden type talks so we can get a few more members also if you can each ask a friend to join that would be great as well.

Eva has said she would like to help with gardens in town this year as well I will also ask Patti if she can as well.

Hope to see you tonight.
Eunice

ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISER

We are a small group of civic minded residents who do all we can to add small gardens where nothing should grow.

At intersections we add these gardens to build community. It is not easy to grow plants in the worst soil surrounded by asphalt where the sun beats on them from sunup till sundown but little by little our choices are clearly working.

Police and Fire Entrance

This is one such spot where we have added different plants to fill in a spot where a local contractor gifted us good soil to add on top of all of the salt laden sandy soil New England is known for with our long winters.

We have assorted Hosta, Day Lily, Roses and a large white self-watering container that we fill with Pansies, Petunias and at this time of the year Mums and Cabbage to embrace the fall season.

ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISER

Now taking orders for colorful Mums, Asters and Cabbage of course.

8″ Mums
$8.50

10″ Hanging Mums
$15.00

12″ Combo Patio Pots
$22.00

Asters and Cabbage
2 for $10
